At the end of every episode of "The Green Hope", it shows quotations from famous people from around the world. When my Great Auntie lent the series to me (back in 2000), the writing was very small and blurry. It wasn't until I got the official TVBI version that I could read the quotations.

TVB's Underrated Series "The Green Hope"

新鮮人
The Green Hope

監製﹕曾謹昌
編審﹕曾謹昌﹐朱鏡祺

Air date: October 2000
Watched date: July 26 - July 30, 2000
Cast: Bowie Lam, Yoyo Mung, Stephen Fung, Joey Yung, Cathy Tsui, Melissa Ng, etc.

http://tvcity.tvb.com/drama/greenhope/

The title of the series is literally translated as "New Fresh People."

The writer for this series also wrote "La Femme Desperado" and "Men in Pain".

Fong Ka Fai (Bowie Lam) and Fong Ka Him (Stephen Fung) are separated after their parents divorce. Fai decides to sacrifice himself and go with his abusive father and let Him go with their mother. Him develops neurosis because his mother is a drug addict and constantly beats Him.

Fai and Him reunite and Him's illness relapses. Fai finds out that he is responsible for Him's condition because their father is not abusive. The father hit the mother because she was a druggie. Fai decides to take care of Him, but Fai's wife, Sum Gai Kwun (Melissa Ng), does not want to live with Him and wants Fai to immigrate to Canada with her. Their marriage falls apart when Kwun falls down the stairs and has a miscarriage. Fai also faces problems at work. Fai is an interior designer and is framed by a colleague. Fai resigns from the company and Siu Lai Wah (Yoyo Mung) was the only one willing to leave with him. Later, Fai establishes his own company named 'Fong's Brothers & Associates'. Wah lives with her grandmother who has Alzheimer’s disease, her older sister, and her younger sister. Wah solely takes care of the family because her older sister only cares about her boyfriend and her younger sister is still in school.

Him, diagnosed with neurosis faces, many problems in society such as humiliation and discrimination. Through Him's recovery process, he meets Wai Man (Joey Yung) and Yuen Ying (Cathy Tsui).

*This series is underrated because the newbie artistes did an incredible job in their character portrayals. Many of these 'fresh' artistes have never filmed a television series before. Stephen Fung, a singer, song writer, and movie actor, did a very convincing job as a patient with neurosis. Yoyo's role as Siu Lai Wah is very similar to her real self because, not only does she have a grandmother who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, she also has to support her father's family and her mother's family. Yoyo is actually a very strong-willed person. I really do admire her for that. This was actually her first television series. Bowie Lam, being the only experienced actor among the main cast, in my opinion, gave his best performance. even exceeding "War and Beauty". He was able to express his emotions in which he lacks in his present works. Cathy Tsui and Joey Yung met expectations because they were able to 'dish out the dirt'. Stephen's three friends in the series did an excellent job portraying people with mental illnesses. The 'gold leaf' actress who shined was Mary Hon playing the drug addict mother. Her scenes took away a lot of my tears.

"The Green Hope" is definitely one of the most underrated TVB series. It is a very touching series.

"The Departed" October 6th, 2006

In theatres October 6, 2006
Directed by: Martin Scorsese
Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Martin Sheen, Vera Farmiga, Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Anderson, Ray Winstone, etc.

Criminals or Cops...
When you're facing a loaded gun.
What's the difference?
droof
Two men from opposite sides of the law are undercover within the Boston State Police department and the Irish mafia, but violence and bloodshed boil when discoveries are made, and the moles are dispatched to find out their enemy's identities.
ifposter3ifposter2ifposter
"The Departed" is actually based on Hong Kong's 2002 thriller "Infernal Affairs". The film is not a remake of that film, but inspired by "Infernal Affairs". The storyline is very similar. An undercover cop working as a mole in the triads, and a cop from the police department working for the triads. Hopefully, "The Departed" will interest audience viewers with its Hollywood cast. The HK film grossed over 55 million HKD in Christmas of 2002. The cast for "Infernal Affairs" just screams attention. Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Andy Lau alone can capture millions of people from around Asia, nevertheless, having Anthony Wong Chau Sang and Eric Tsang act by their side. The film also features other Asian superstars like Sammi Cheng, Kelly Chen, Edison Chen, and Shawn Yue.

[This is the famous rooftop scene where Tony Leung (holding gun) finds out that Andy Lau is the mole from the police department working for the triads.]

"Infernal Affairs" swept the Asian Film Awards winning awards like Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Sound Effects, as well as the Audience Choice Award. "Infernal Affairs" turned into a box office blockbuster that re-wrote HK's movie history.

A Blast from the Past: "Sealed with a Kiss"

Louis Koo and Yoyo Mung
sealed

This was from 1999's Hong Kong movie "Sealed With a Kiss". It's actually a wallpaper that came with the VCD. The movie was directed by Derek Chiu Sung Kei and produced by Johnnie To Kei Fung. Louis plays Kam Shui, a mute who lives on a Hong Kong island far away from the city. Yoyo plays Mandy, a heartbroken girl who goes to Kam's town. This movie is full of detail and character. Louis does a superb job playing Kam Shui. He was able to express his emotions through his eyes. Unlike other female leads in movies who are only there to pair up with the male lead, Yoyo is more than a 'flower vase'. Louis and Yoyo really make an appealing couple, even though one is dark-skinned and the other is white-skinned. I really enjoyed this movie.

Kelly Chen Wai Lam

Kelly Chen was born on September 13, 1972 in Hong Kong. She was schooled in Hong Kong at a young age, but her father wanted her to learn Japanese, and thus decided to send her off to Japan for her high school years. After high school, Kelly went to New York City's Parsons School of Design, where she studied graphic design. After her education, she returned to HK and, very soon, she caught the attention of an agent and filmed her first commercial ad. Later, she was introduced to her present manager, Chung Chun, and filmed her first movie, "Whatever Will Be, Will Be", in 1995. In the same year, she was signed under Go East Music as a singer.

Kelly ChenKelly Chen

Apart from winning singing awards like 'HK's Most Popular Female Singer' and 'Asia's Most Poplar Female Singer', Kelly has other awards like 'Most Poplar Idol'. Kelly also does a great amount of charitable work. In 2002, Kelly started her own fund to help children called "Kelly Chen Children Education Fund". Kelly has built schools in Mainland China named 翰琳院 to help children with their education. She has managed to build 5 schools at the moment. Her goal is to have 10 schools developed. In the same year, she was chosen as one of "Hong Kong's Ten Outstanding Young Persons". In 2004, Kelly was named one of the "Outstanding Young Persons of the World", becoming the first HK celebrity to be honoured with the award. The list for Kelly’s awards is infinite.

I really do admire Kelly. She is the only HK celebrity with a healthy image, and she has managed to keep this image ever since she first started in the entertainment industry. She has never had any bad rumours or gossip surround her. Her singing skills really show improvement year after year. She is the only female singing in HK who can hold the title as "Dancing Heavenly Queen". She is the only one to have kept her 'true colours'. She is never 'fake'. Even when she goes on the game show "Super Trio", she shows off her true personality when she plays. Now, that's cool!

Chi Lam and Kenix Reunite

Julian Cheung and Kenix Kwok will be filming a Mainland China series called 《紅粉》, literally translated as "Red Powder". The series takes place in the '40s or '50s, where Kenix will play a well-known prostitute. Since the series is a pre-modern series, Kenix will be wearing a lot of qipaos.

red1red2red3

It has been a long time since they have played a couple. Although they were both in "Take My Word for It," it was since 1993's "Remembrance" that they have last paired up. That is the series that made me fall in love with Chi Lam.

My Artwork

I really enjoy working on art in my free-time. However, that has not been happening much lately. I tend to discontinue working on a piece if I get bored. I get bored often if I don't like how the art is turning out. Then I just leave it and set it aside, and work on something new. Here are some of my past artwork.

art 001
This was done when I was in grade 9. The centre piece of this drawing is a sculpture taken from an art text book. However, I have forgotten the original artist's name.

art 002
This pen drawing was in my late year of grade 9.

art 003
I did this in early grade 9. It's supposed to be Gallen Lo's Lee Kei and Maggie Cheung's Ching Bo Chu. It kind of resembles them. I think I did a better job on Gallen though.

art 004
This pencil drawing of Julian Cheung Chi Lam was done in grade 9. I believe this was my first attempt at drawing real people.

art 005
This pencil drawing was done in grade 9. It is Monkey King from "Journey to the West". I was aiming for Monkey King to look more animal than human. The result wasn't that bad.

art 006
This painting was done in grade 10. I was supposed to do a master study painting, but I did this instead. Even though I did that, I finished the class with an average mark of 100 percent.

art 007
This "Is There Life After Death?" pencil drawing was done in grade 11. I really like this one because, if you flip the picture around, you will see that the word 'Death' will become the word 'Life'. Pretty cool, eh?

art 008
This is a pencil crayon drawing done in grade 11.

art 009
This abstract drawing is done entirely out of black and blue pen. It is actually Flora Chan's Chinese name 陳慧珊. On the bottom, it is the word 'flora' in handwriting. The pointillism was inspired by my sister. I really like this one because it looks very cool and nice.

art 010
This pencil drawing was done in grade 12 as well.

art 011
This is actually me when I was 8 months old. Too bad on the bad shading job on the cheeks. Other than that, I think I did well.

art 012
This media drawing of "Super Trio" is done entirely out of markers.

art 013
This is only a sketch, but I think it looks cool because it reminds me of '7 Up'.

art 014
I really like this still-life because it's done in pencil crayon plus the colors look very cool.

art 015
This "Panda" was done in grade 12. The whole thing was done entirely out of paper cuttings. The fur was made from thin strips of black and white paper. "Panda" was placed in the Mendel Art Gallery on March 24, 2003. It was my 19th birthday, so it was pretty memorable.

art 016
This is a master study that I was required to do in grade 12. However, the substitute teacher basically finished it for me when she was helping me fix it. The teacher gave it a 8/10, but the substitute teacher said to me, "I think I did better than an 8". Then she changed the mark to a 9. The "I" she was referring to was herself. So funny!

art 017
This is a pencil drawing of my sister, Sarah, at the age of 1. She actually looked more jolly in the actual photograph, but I did a decent job.

Recently, I have been working on a few new ones. Hopefully, I will finish and not give up and just leave them aside.

Edison Chen Koon Hei

This is Edison Chen Koon Hei. You can so tell it's him! I'm guessing this is a picture from elementary picture day. I recognize the background. Ha ha!

Edison was born on October 7, 1980. He is of Chinese and Macanese (mixed Chinese-Portuguese) descent. He is a singer, actor, and a businessman. He owns a Hong Kong-based fashion design company named CLOT, which has collaborated with Nike and has released a clothing line named Alienegra.
ec 004ec 001
These here are 2 figurines of Edison released in January of 2002. The figurines were designed by Hong Kong's well-known designer Eric So. They really do look like Edison.
