January
Gallen Lo and Maggie Cheung

Back then, the first month was seen as the most important month. It would always showcase TVB's 'Number One Brother' and 'Number One Sister'. After the success of 1997's "Old Time Buddy", Gallen and Maggie again played Lee Kei and Ching Bo Chu in "Old Time Buddy - To Catch a Thief". In 1999, Maggie also received one of the five TVB awards for the millennium's 'Most Memorable Female Leads' for her role as Ching Bo Chu (the other four were Josephine Siao's Lam Ah Chun, Liza Wang's Lok Lam in "A House Is Not a Home", Nancy Sit's Leung Yun Ho in "A Kindred Spirit", and Angie Chiu in "The Bund").

Joyce Tang and Benny Chan

There are two main reasons why certain artistes get to be in the calendar: one, to show who is "big" in TVB; two, to show who will get promoted.

  1. I did this all wrong. I was supposed to explain what they did in 1998 in order for them to be on 1999's calendar. Oh well!

  3. To Anonymous:

This calendar was taken in 1998, so they would have already filmed "Secret of the Heart". Kelvin and Diana were already known.
