"Links to Temptation" @ TVB Programme Highlights

links_to_temptation

Steven Ma, who plays a young and talented specialist lawyer, will become involved in a series of mysterious cases of inheritance battles because of a cell phone. He and Fala Chen, a pole dancer, and Yoyo Mung, who is plotting for revenge, will become involved in a trap between love and money. The storyline is full of twists and turns, clearly revealing the different levels of human greed and willful arrogance.

Cast: Steven Ma, Fala Chen, Yoyo Mung, Kenny Wong, Timmy Hung, Johnson Lee

Personal Note: My English translation of this series, "Transferred Connection of Temptation", was actually quite close to its official English title. ;)

  5. To rachel:

It is an interesting concept, but I just hope that TVB can pull it off.

    To Anonymous:

Yes, this is Yoyo's first villain role. Hope it will be a breakthrough for her.

    To Anonymous:

Fala's the first female lead; however, she and Yoyo should share similar screen time.

    To Anonymous:

Yes, Johnson is in both series. He is also a PI in "Twilight", while he is Steven's younger brother in "Links".

  6. Will this series be warehoused? If warehoused then it is a pity for Yoyo!

  7. I hope it doesn't get warehoused! I've been waiting for this show for quite awhile now.

  8. This looks very interesting. Both Fala's and Yoyo's characters sound intriguing and respectively challenging. When will we know when it will air? Hopefully, it won't be warehoused.

  10. TVB is heavily promoting Fala. She's improving series by series, but to give her the first female lead over Yoyo? I don't know...

  11. ^Is Yoyo a TVB-contracted artist? Maybe that's why? I really like Yoyo but her position in TVB doesn't seem very strong. Regarding acting, Yoyo is definitely a lot better and seasoned than Fala, but then again, TVB has also produced a lot of shows with e.g Linda as lead too. And obviously, Yoyo > Linda in acting too.

  12. To Anonymous:

Small fa dans usually have first lead in Tsui Yue On's series. Yoyo was never a heavily promoted fa dan, so I don't find it that surprising.

    To Advo:

Yoyo has been a TVB managed artiste since "The Charm Beneath".

  13. To Advo: Yoyo was the first female lead over Linda in Forensic Heroes.

There were already too many leading veteran actresses in HOG. I felt like Yoyo's character wasn't really needed.

To hyn5: I can tell that TVB is pushing Fala into the fadan limelight, but I wouldn't think she'll get a lead role over Yoyo. I guess it doesn't really matter as long as Yoyo delivers a solid performance.

  14. I find it amusing that more well-known actors are getting villain roles such as Yoyo in here, Bosco in GTL, Raymond L. in an Uninvited Date (is he a villain there?). The bad guy role seems more and more accepting after Tavia's Gam Ling.

  15. To Anonymous:

Yoyo was never a heavy promoted fa dan. She was always the "vase" to pair up with the leading male. It's just like Kate leading over Sonija in "When Lanes Merges".

It takes three years for a fa dan to emerge, so the new set of fa dans are Linda, Kate, and Fala.

    To Kitty:

Villain roles became big after Susanna Kwan's role as Sai Kai in "Heart of Greed".

I don't think Raymond is a villain in "An Uninvited Date".

Also, I believe a villain and a bad guy are two different constructs.

  16. So Yoyo is a TVB artist?but why Yoyo didn't get much promoted in this few years?I think Yoyo's acting skill is very good but dunnoe why TVB keep promoted other artist! If this series get warehoused then Yoyo's performances is such of waste and this might be Yoyo rising drama in my opinion!
Can TVB heavily promoted Yoyo or not?I like Yoyo very much but last year her role in ID Jingying is like not important.Hope TVB will give Yoyo more good/nice drama to film.

    Thanks!

  17. @ Anonymous: Sure, there were a lot of veterans leading over Yoyo, but Linda was clearly leading over Yoyo as well which is completely hogwash imo of course. More so than Fala leading over Yoyo, but that's just my opinion.

@ Kitty: I think you're giving Tavia way too much credit - especially considering Tavia was bad as Gam Ling. Villain roles have been coveted roles since forever, because they let actors show more range. When you think back on some of the most interesting characters through out history, it's a lot of villain characters that stand out. It applies in Hollywood too, think Health Ledger for The Dark Knight.

Whether Yoyo is a TVB managed artist or not, it seems like she won't ever get heavily promoted. Which is a shame, because she's good.
